Surprise! I’m popping in for a bonus issue of TSIS that’s all about eclipses.
Eclipses in astrology are kind of a big deal. They’re powerful pointers for things to come. Many astrologers use eclipses to predict which areas of your life will see major shifts over a six month period, or longer. As a newbie astro nerd, I’ve found them to be super handy and a little eerie.1
The final eclipses for 2022 are due to take place with a partial solar eclipse on Tuesday 25 October and a total lunar eclipse on Tuesday 8 November.
The moon’s nodes
The moon’s North and South nodes are two mathematical points calculated on the ecliptic. These aren’t physical bodies, but rather the points where the Lunar and Solar eclipses for that year will take place. Currently, the eclipses are rolling around in intense Scorpio and the sensual Taurus. They’re due to shimmy into fiery Aries and diplomatic Libra next year.
Each of our birth charts also include the nodes, marking the signs where the eclipses took place during our year of birth. The position of the nodes in our chart are often used by astrologers to determine our life’s deepest purpose, or to understand our karma from previous lives (if that’s your jam).2
Celestial peekaboo
In Norse mythology, it was believed that siblings Sol and Mani, or the sun and the moon, were perpetually pursued by a pair of wolves. Eclipses occurred when the dangerous doggies caught up with and consumed the sparkly siblings, signaling that the dreaded end times were nigh. Sounds a bit like the Vedic myth from the Moon issue, doesn’t it?
Don’t look up!
Regular readers of TSIS will know that I’m obsessed about looking skywards, but far be it for me to ask you to spark a blinking contest with the sun just to see an eclipse. Be safe. Live stream it instead.
Bits and bobs
Welcome to all you new supernovas who have joined my little astrology party! I’m beyond thrilled to have you here ♡
To see what areas of your life have been lit up (or set ablaze) by the eclipses, grab your birth chart and locate Taurus ♉︎ and Scorpio ♏︎ on the outermost ring. Check which houses hold these signs (denoted by the little numbers) and cross reference what these houses represent. I totally get that this isn’t super beginner friendly so drop me a line at lovetaradesigns@gmail.com if you need a little help or want a one-line interpretation.
Need to know more? Astrologer Jan Spiller has a book dedicated to the nodes. For a less intensive read, here’s my favourite article. You’ll need your birth chart to look up this info. Again, I’m happy to help with this!
